Not everyone likes the murals, of course; and there always will be people who get off on defacing them solely in the interest of destroying something.
The vandalism here cannot be concealed in a photograph
This one was repaired in 2020
Another Midtown painting has been nicely restored:

A beautiful depiction of three female astronauts was defaced in February of 2020,
according to its owner who was interviewed by the local newspaper
(from the video interview, a portion of the damage)
Three months later, it has been partially repaired:
