Shortly after this, we turned back from what was the proper route all along, just 400 feet from the main trail!  Sorry guys; I was somewhat discombobulated by the weather, and a glance at the compass could have resolved the matter.  I shot no more photos until we were back on the trail.

§: From the map, our hillside bushwhack was at (1).  We turned back at (2) when we were on the right track all along, finally regaining the trail at (3).

Had we stayed lower after the bushwhack, we would have found my "bridge", and no confusion would have resulted.
