PETITE SUITE: #VI — SERENADE Alexander Borodin
(augmented by 29 bars) & Ted Muller
Completed in 1885, just two years before its creator's
untimely death at age 54, this simple piano solo ultimately suffered the
fate of so many of the great masters' works. Mr. Borodin's music was
first 'plundered' for pop purposes as the bases for 20 of
the 22 songs in the Broadway play, Kismet. This piece is
easily recognizable as the inspiration for the song, Night of my Nights.
Having been inspired myself by the soundtrack of Kismet, measures
#39-67 represent my own contribution. I do not claim to have improved
upon the composer's genius.
