Ted's Special Places An Evening with the Giraffes
at the Sacramento Zoo

July 10, 2016

At a fund-raising auction for the now-private Sacramento Zoo, benefactor Pat has secured a special party for a number of her friends at the Giraffe Pavilion.  Guests are being treated to drinks, some delicious finger-food, and an up-close-and-personal tour of the barn where we will meet and feed some of the residents.

We are not able to visit with the 3-month-old baby

The calf was born on April 11, 165 pounds and six feet tall.  Every new-born is important, because the giraffe population in sub-Saharan Africa has declined by 40% over the last 15 years.

§: Most visitors to the zoo don't get a 'back-room' tour of the facilities.  This was a real treat.  Thanks, Pat.
