El Calafate, Argentina |
March 16, 2012
A 600-mile flight from Bariloche gets us to El Calafate, which is smaller
and seemingly cleaner than the other towns we have visited. Our hostel
room consists of a pair of bunk beds, a small bathroom, and a separate
3'×4' shower area.

Having time to kill before dinner, we tour the downtown area.
This little mall features sod roofs
There is an interesting exhibit in midtown:
Francisco Pascasio Moreno is the most famous historical figure in these parts.
Another prominent local historical figure was Charles Darwin, who spent a lot of time around here.
We walk nearly a mile to another barbecue dinner
Tasty stuff; but all that you get on your plate is meat
Upon our return to the hostel, we discover that we have two roommates, a male and a female, making this the most cramped room in my experience.
Tomorrow it's off to Chile and the big park, and we are anxious.
