Ted's Hiking World A Short Tour of
Buenos Aires

March 6, 2012

Having already flown from Sacramento to Los Angeles and thence to Houston, David and I are anticipating another ten-hour plane ride to the capital of Brazil.  That's twice as long a flight as any that I have incurred previously.

A flight cancellation has forced us to spend the night in a city of thirteen million people.  There is not enough time to run downtown and get tango lessons, so a three-mile loop walk from our hastily arranged hostel will have to suffice.  Our tour reveals some fascinating scenes from the barrio:

*
Tacky art work

*
Typical cobblestone street

*
Some sort of altercation

*
A fancy church

*
Monument to the nation's independence

*
The balcony where Peron and Madonna stood

What a fascinating collection of local art!  I could spend a lot of time here just taking photographs, but no; we'll be flying south to Bariloche tomorrow.
