Ted's Hiking World Trillium Falls
Redwood National Park

June 23, 2017

As I exit the route down to Fern Canyon, another opportunity presents itself at a roadside picnic area.

*

A longer loop is available, but I'll just check out the falls themselves.

*
The ubiquitous ferns

*

Most of this route seems to be a steep climb up a few switchbacks.

*
Stump Blossom fungi

*
The equally ubiquitous tall redwoods

* *

*
Almost there

*
Trillium Falls are tiny, yet quite photogenic

*
A real-time view
*
The 'artsy' option

Scrambling down beside the wooden overlook provides a different perspective:

*
Reminiscent of the New Zealand rain forest

*

*

This is one of more than 1,000 redwood groves dedicated since 1921 under the auspices of the Save the Redwoods League.  You also could dedicate a grove with a contribution of $35,000 or more.

*

*
Old growth, new growth

*
Blackberries

End of the trail

§: Well, I didn't expect much from this lesser-known trail; but the walk was quite pleasant, and my photographs proved more interesting than was anticipated.  It was too late in the season, however, to see any actual trilliums.
