The standard setup for this movement probably is the most poorly balanced schedule ever published, yet it remains for sale today.  The patent unfairness of this layout is a disgrace to the profession.  Pairs 2 and 9 play in the same direction only once, as do Pairs 4 and 11; on the other hand, stationary Pairs 10 and 11 go head-to-head 8 times out of nine.

The balance for this suggested replacement is no thing of beauty either, but it is a substantial improvement.  There are only two instances where pairs match up fewer than three times.
